Job Summary:

The Welding Foreman supervises and leads a team of welders in the completion of welding projects. This role includes leading day-to-day operations, Lead welding project and field installs, provide technical expertise, training team members, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervision and Leadership: Lead the daily activities of welding personnel, ensuring that work is being performed in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and deadlines.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all welding work is done per project specifications, and quality requirements. Perform quality inspections of welds and recommend corrections.
  • Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures. Ensure that all team members use personal protective equipment (PPE) and that the welding environment is safe.
  • Training and Development: Provide training to new and existing welding staff on welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Collaborate with the production or project manager to develop work schedules, set priorities, and ensure timely completion of welding projects.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure welding equipment is properly maintained and functioning. Report any equipment malfunctions and arrange for repairs as necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of welding activities, materials used, and inspection reports. Assist with generating production reports and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during welding processes. Provide solutions to technical or operational challenges.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other departments such as engineering, quality control, and production to ensure seamless coordination and timely project completion.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a welder with a strong background in welding techniques and processes.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a welding or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices in the welding industry.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Welding Certifications.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and Stick.
  • Familiarity with welding machinery and tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in a variety of physical positions and environments, including confined spaces and elevated platforms.
  • Tolerance for working in environments with high temperatures, noise, and fumes.
