Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Conveyor Mechanic to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing conveyor systems used in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial environments. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and has a strong background in material handling systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on various conveyor systems (belt, roller, automated).
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues including belts, motors, rollers, gearboxes, and pulleys.
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and welding/fabrication equipment as needed.
- Align, tension, and calibrate conveyor components to ensure proper function.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Respond to breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime and maintain productivity.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to support system reliability.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and all company safety policies.
- Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance records and service logs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems and industrial equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including motors, bearings, gearboxes, belts, chains, and couplings.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical diagrams, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
- Skilled in the safe use of tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, welding, cutting).
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills (motors, sensors, limit switches) are a plus.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and stand/walk for long periods.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and emergency call-outs.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
Preferred Skills:
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Basic understanding of PLCs or automation systems
- Forklift certification or willingness to obtain
- Familiarity with warehouse or industrial safety practices
